The last time I had the chance to do some Pennard House Wedding Photography was during the summer time. It’s one of my favourite Somerset wedding venues, so when Rory and Liane contacted me to photograph their Pennard House winter wedding I absolutely jumped at the chance! As I hope you’ll see, it works really well as a lovely cosy venue when it’s close to zero outside too.
These photos will require a little back story however, as this was going to be Liane & Rory’s blessing ceremony. With a lengthy Naval secondment coming up in the US they had decided to get married quickly earlier in the year. The proper wedding had to wait until today, so you’ll notice a private exchange of rings before entering the church. It’s unique and special moments like this that are a real privilege to capture.
So on a freezing morning in December, I drove down through Somerset across some beautiful frosted countryside. I met the girls getting ready in the main suite of the house, working alongside the lovely Tracy Pallari who did hair & make-up. The stunning flowers were provided by Eden Blooms.
One of the hardest parts of the day was being ‘banished’ to the back of the church for the blessing. This time I couldn’t talk my way around it! Rory & Liane had been cool with this arrangement, but it should serve as a timely reminder to any couples getting married to always check with your vicar/registar for any restrictions they may place on photography and videography.
Liane & Rory were a pleasure to work with, and made me feel so welcome on the day. It was such a fun day and everyone was so friendly! Liane in particular was an absolute star for putting up the cold and a muddy dress!
