Thank you, these are amazing! We’ve been cooing over them all evening!
So, I think it’s about time I showed you some really lovely wedding photos from the Globe at Hay. It really is a lovely venue, and as if by chance, Alice and Will are really lovely too!
There’s a lot going on at the Globe as an event space. From music, cinema, comedy, talks and clubs. You can check it out here. Alice and Will are regulars which is why they chose it for their venue. It’s a bit of a blank space to put your own mark on and with a little help from their friends I think they decorated it amazingly well! The Globe itself is a converted Methodist chapel with original pulpit, an upper gallery (great for alternative photo angles) and café downstairs – they do awesome food! But most importantly for me as a photographer – it’s well lit!
There’s some spectacular scenery surrounding Hay-on-Wye and I loved the drive up across the Brecon Beacons. It’s a brilliant place too, great for having a mooch around and famous for being the town of books. No surprise then that it has some lovely bookshops! When we first met Alice & Will had mentioned they were interested in philosophy, so I thought a little portrait trip to Richard Booth’s bookshop should definitely be on the cards. A hat tip goes out the lovely lady behind the counter for waving us on through! We also went for a little wander down to the banks of the river Wye at dusk to make a few more pretty photographs.
It was a perfect spring day in April. Morning prep began at the cottage next door which was super handy for all involved. After the ceremony everyone relaxed in the garden where I’ve never seen so many grown men playing with bubbles! It was great to see Sophie & Stefan again whose Folk House wedding I photographed a few years before. The speeches were very funny and a pleasure to shoot. We had a first bounce, and I discovered the difference between tits and boobies! The day was topped off with a ceilidh from where I left everyone dancing the night away.
Thank you for an amazing day!
