I’ve been waiting a long time to shoot some Thornbury Castle wedding photography, and I finally got my chance last month courtesy of Johnny & Rob. These two fine chaps (and their cohort of best people) met on a mountain almost 10 years ago and have never looked back. Coincidentally I hiked the same mountain – Kilimanjaro – just the year before!
The weather forecasts around Bristol have always been a bit iffy in my opinion, at least on wedding days when I’m paying attention! It was supposed to rain, but happily we didn’t see a drop on what turned out to be a beautiful spring day. In fact the icing on the cake was getting a little unexpected ray of sunshine during golden hour for some evening portraits.
Thornbury Castle has a long history and is set within some beautiful grounds. There’s both acres of space and lots of nooks and crannies for interesting photos opportunities. Johnny & Rob were really cool with going along with my ideas as well as throwing in some of their own. I loved it, and right from the start I was made to feel so welcome by Johnny & Rob and their friends. The ceremony was personal and moving. The speeches were brilliantly funny, and they had their own pocket sized drone for a group photo. I need to get my hands on one of these!
A huge thank you guys for having me along to capture your wedding, it was an honour to be a small part of your day. May you both be great husbands :)
So without further ado it’s off to the castle we go…

What a lovely set of photographs! I love the shot where they have their heads together – very emotive! And the dancing! Brilliant. I bet they’re chuffed with these!
So many excellent images. Emotional and full of beautiful light, awesome work!
