Sally and Steve’s Orchardleigh winter wedding has to be one of the smiliest weddings I’ve ever photographed. Or at the very least, it was with one of the smiliest brides! Seriously it was a rare moment indeed if I didn’t catch at least one of them laughing. What a perfect fit they are for each other!
After Sally had made herself ready at the main house, they were both married at the picturesque St Mary’s church on the Orchardleigh estate. The ceremony was held on an overcast November afternoon, and I was forewarned it would probably be a ‘little bit dark’ in the church.
In fact it turned out to be extremely dark – definitely one of the most challenging scenarios I’ve yet faced!
Surrounded by their close family and friends, the ceremony was entirely candle lit which made for a lovely intimate atmosphere. But you can get an idea of the light levels by the fact that the guests had to use their phone torches to read the hymns!
Afterwards we took a walk around the grounds to get some outdoor portraits in the fading light. Just from chatting to people throughout the day I knew the speeches were going to be good. Of course they turned out to be hilarious, with some proper toe curling father-daughter moments thrown in for Sally! And those good vibes carried on through till late in the night when everyone ended up on the dancefloor.
This was an absolutely brilliant day, here are a few highlights from their wedding…
