Becky & Rob’s wedding was the first time I’d been asked to photograph at Barley Wood near Wrington. I fell in love with this place, but equally I had an absolute blast capturing their amazing wedding on a beautiful sunny day in May.
I’d actually never heard of Barley Wood House until Becky & Rob got in touch. This was a surprise to me as it’s only 20 minutes down the road! It’s an 18th century house set within acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, with no shortage of places to explore for your photos. And if you’re lucky enough to have an outdoor ceremony here you and your guests are going to be blessed with some stunning views across the Mendip Hills. Seriously, check out that view!
Barley Wood Wedding
Becky and Rob got ready in different parts of the house so flitting between the two was really easy. Plus it was nice to be able to nip out to catch the guests arriving when time allowed. Later on I followed the bridal party for the long walk down to the ceremony. The setting was perfect! And even though there were a large number of guests the ceremony still managed to feel very intimate.
Afterwards everyone made their way to the main drive for confetti time. As keen mountain bikers Becky and Rob added a unique and personal touch here which was one of my favourite moments of the day!
From there it was on to drinks, canapes and games in the gardens with music from The Marionettes. As I mentioned we were really spoilt for choice when it came to portraits, but both B&R were really keen for a woodland shoot. Then later in the day they obliged me by making an unscheduled hike up the hill to catch the last of the setting sun.
All of which brings us nicely to the evening party, which was awesome! A packed dance floor from start to finish egged on by The Shuffles Band. Even when the noise levels needed dialing down there was no stopping crowd – cue the silent disco!
This was such a fun wedding, and there are some lovely photographs that I’ve included in my Best of 2019. Here they are alongside some of my other favourites from the day…
