I’d suggested we head to Dyrham Park for Emma & Frank’s pre wedding shoot as it was so close to where they live, and I’m so glad they took up the offer. What a day for it, with blue skies and fluffy clouds – September has been kind! A favourite place of mine on the edge of Bristol, Dyrham Park is a National Trust property with acres of parkland, great views, a stunning mansion, and a herd of fallow deer. Awesome all round, and we made some awesome images! So much so that you’ll see a few new personal favourites of mine below. It’s such a varied place and great for taking some long distance shots and trying out different compositions with the landscape. So we spent a couple hours walking around the park, strolling up and down the rolling hills, photographed them with the deer (yay!), and explored the beautiful grounds at the back of the mansion. With some great light, stunning scenery and Emma & Frank playing their part, it really made my job feel too easy!

Fiona and Mark will be marrying next month at Goldbrick House on Park Street. Back in July we met up for their engagement shoot around the Create Centre near Bedminster. Even though this area is only a 10-15 minute walk from where I live, it’s not a place I’d considered exploring on foot before, having mostly seen it when passing from behind the wheel. They both like to go for walks along the river around here and I’m so glad they suggested it. The area has a semi-urban feel with loads of interesting little spots for photographs. Thankfully the rain held off and we spent a good couple of hours exploring and trying out different locations, from the lockside to the disused train line. Fiona and Mark are really easy going and good fun and I’m looking forward to seeing them again soon in September. Here are some of my picks from the day…
I’d been waiting patiently to arrange a meet up for Nicola and Adam’s pre wedding shoot at Matara. We’ve had so much great weather recently but what I’d really been eager for was a cloudless sunset, and those kind of evenings have been few and far between here in the South West, at least on days which were mutually convenient for us all to get together. Call me picky, but having done a little recce a few weeks beforehand, I could see that a sunset with clear skies was going to work really well here at this time of year. Thankfully, when it came to our last minute trip to the Cotswolds, we struck gold! read more
I met Hope completely by chance back in December whilst out on an errand to buy some Christmas cards. I cheekily introduced myself having overheard her discussing wedding plans with a friend and I’m very pleased and grateful to say that she booked! Fast forward to May and I arranged to meet up with Hope and fiance Neil for their Clifton pre wedding shoot at the splendid Merchants Hall on the Promenade, which will be their reception venue in July. It was forecast to be a beautiful sunny day with clear skies so we got together at 9am to make the most of the soft early morning light. As a bonus the bridge would be quieter too. We couldn’t have timed it better on what turned out to be the nicest day of the year so far. read more
I met Matt & Katie at their house in Leeds the day before their wedding for a woodland engagement shoot. They both have a love of the outdoors and enjoy nothing more than being able to go for a stroll through the woods near their home in Meanwood. read more
